WARRINGTON Borough Council is the landlord of Stobart’s existing headquarters at Appleton (Warrington Guardian, August 1).
It is also the planning authority.
Is there not a massive conflict of interest here?
Stobart threatened to pull out of Warrington if it did not get planning consent.
The rental income on its existing premises underpins the council’s property investment.
How could the council make its planning decision on an objective basis?
Let’s hope that the Secretary of State will overturn the decision.
I wouldn’t hold your breath though.
