WHY are so many people calling for a theatre in Warrington?

(Warrington Guardian, July 25).

The reason that the several theatres that were here all closed down was because no-one was going and they were losing money.

Society has changed unfortunately and there simply isn’t enough people in the Warrington area who would regularly go to the theatre in sufficient numbers to make it economically viable.

So it would have to be subsidised.

And I, like many others, think that particularly as the council is cutting back on more essential services, it should not be wasting council tax payers’ money on an expensive frivolity.
