I WOULD like to reply to The Fly in the Ointment column on militant cyclists (Warrington Guardian, June 27).

The writer of this column, in my opinion, needs lessons in safety to other road users.

What the cyclists by the sound of his or her rant are trying to do is to not to be trapped in between parked and overtaking cars as this is an extremely dangerous situation.

Maybe the writer should try this one day.

It only takes a passing car to swerving to avoid an oncoming problem and the cyclist gets crushed.

Cyclists have as much right to use the highways as impatient drivers and the actions described in the rant are a way to keep safe and avoid this problem.

Cycle lanes are a separate issue and much are needed if we are to go green.
