I HAVE voted Labour from the age of 18 in 1972 and I will never vote Labour again.

Never in all my years have I seen such arrogance and blatant disregard for democracy where Labour, along with the majority of other politicians in Parliament, are playing party politics over Brexit.

I, just like millions of other Labour voters, also voted to leave the EU.

Labour at the last General Election stood on a manifesto pledge that they would respect the referendum result and the majority of MPs voted to trigger article 50.

But despite that manifesto pledge and, apart from a handful of democratic Labour MPs, the majority have continually voted against Brexit in every vote.

We now see many Labour MPs defy the leadership and pushing for another referendum including the Labour MP for Warrington South, Faisal Rashid, whose voting record shows he has consistently voted for more integration and voted against Brexit in every vote.

He wasn’t an MP when the vote to trigger article 50 was held but you could judge by his voting record he would have voted against triggering article 50 had he been an MP at the time.

Helen Jones, MP for Warrington North, has also voted continually for more EU integration and although she did vote to trigger Article 50 she has either voted against or abstained on all other votes on Brexit.

When a democracy refuses to implement the result of its own democratic voting system it ‘ceases to be a democracy’.

Labour and other political parties will pay a heavy price at the next election KEVIN MANNION Warrington
