I HAVE been having a dispute with the Warrington Central Station car park run by Parking Eye.

With an apparent lack of support and with avenues closed in all directions I turn to the media for support.

I never park here but I picked up a friend from Central Station in June, passing signs that say parking is free for 20 minutes along the entrance to the car park.

I waited in the bay for 14 minutes then left.

To my surprise I received a fine for not paying a fee.

A shortened version of the story is: The road is owned by one operator and the car park by another – incredibly confusing.

There is one small sign that simply says ‘tariff payable by machine or by phone’ that leads from one to another. It is unrecognisable as an entrance sign.

Here is the interesting bit: POPLA the independent operator rejected my appeal because I didn’t respond to the three emails they sent me – although I still have no idea where they are.

This was my first strike out.

Next the British Parking Association. I explained that in line with their ACOP there should be a sign but they have stated this car park is exempt because it may cause confusion!

It causes confusion not having a sign...strike two.

I want everyone to be aware that the car park is totally despicable and blatantly there for fines, or why would they not just put a large obvious sign up saying ‘different car park’.

I hope someone with power can look into the car park and help sort this mess out.

Warrington Central car park is shambolic and shameful.
