PLEASE allow me to use your columns to recognise the help and advice I have received from a range of professionals in the NHS.

My wife Brenda attended Dr Jain’s surgery at Stretton in January 2017 and was referred to Warrington Hospital within a few days when breast cancer was diagnosed.

Sadly the cancer was a rare triple negative type which despite all efforts from Mr Sarfrey and his team did not respond to any treatment, including chemotherapy at Cantreat and she passed away on November 7, 2017.

As you can imagine the grief was and is intolerable most of the time.

Then in April 2018 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. There have been many complications resulting from chemotherapy but I would like to recognise everyone who has been involved in my wife’s and my care over the past two years, not least Dr Jain and her team at Stretton.

So a big thank you to all including surgeons, all at Cantreat, all at Warrington Hospital who looked after every aspect of my care who are never anything less than helpful, caring and especially professional and supportive.

Perhaps we need to appreciate the staff throughout the NHS a bit more.
