I HAVE worked at the hospital for many years and know the pressure we are under.

At the weekend I saw it from the patients’ side and I’m horrified.

I was seen in A&E quickly because of breathing problems but then was stuck there for 12 hours as there was no bed.

I felt sorry for the staff as they were doing their best and couldn’t fault the treatment they were giving me.

I finally got a bed and again the staff were brilliant on the ward.

The night before I came home again patients were being moved late at night to try to make more room.

I was woken at 5.30am to move to the pre-discharge area where I stayed till 5pm when finally my tablets were ready and I could leave.

Apparently the night before they were queueing in the corridors on A&E waiting to get in to be seen.

Are we a third world country? The staff were amazing and I am proud of them but it’s about time they were given the resources they need.
