AS a hardworking professional commuting to Crewe every day I think it’s disgusting that our town does not offer affordable parking for commuters.
On top of a daily £12.40 train fare I’m expected to pay £12 a day parking if I want to be next to the station or if I’m willing to walk a little further I can park for a reduced rate of £6 a day or £120 a month.
There is a car park at Mr Smiths which is more affordable but unfortunately for those who live in Penketh or Great Sankey it means an extra 10 minutes on to each way of your journey as you attempt to make it over the dreaded Bridge Foot roundabout.
People complain about our busy road network and the government wants more people using public transport but how is this possible when it’s not financially viable?
I’m not asking for free parking, I’m simply asking for affordable parking in addition to the £248 a month I spend on train fares.
I think the council really needs to reconsider this it is just greed from robbing car park companies.
