HAVE been reading the letters about the saying ‘Barley and Day’ (Warrington Guardian, August 16) I remember it well.
When I was a young lad I would say to my nan, ‘what’s for tea’, and she would say ‘three jumps at the pantry door’.
Has anyone heard that one?
