FOR months there have been rumours about the future of Padgate Community Centre causing concern for the many user groups of all ages (Warrington Guardian, September 6).
As it is a community centre very different to others in the town why has the council not called a public meeting to explain its plans?
I understand the centre’s trustees have been consulted but the lack of any statement suggests the council is not prepared to be open or have no idea what the final outcome will be.
I have no doubt that more funding cuts by our Tory government have a part to play and councils have to do their dirty work by resetting priorities.
It would help however if the council showed some interest in the club by replacing windows which were smashed about three weeks ago.
I pass them every day.
Padgate residents deserve better.
