CONSIDERING the outrage towards savage dog attacks on babies and young people in recent years, I was under the impression the Government had implemented laws to ban or confine ownership of these pit bull type dogs and stop them from roaming free.
Yet during the last bank holiday weekend I witnessed five of these dogs unleashed and running as a pack among intimidated families with young children, while the teenage dog owners strutted uncaring and allowed their dangerous dogs to run free.
Only a couple of years ago a fully grown swan was torn apart by a bull terrier in front of people strolling along the park canal side.
I fear if our consecutive and apathetic Governments do not take radical action soon to stop ownership of these pit bull types, then those dreadful headlines will continue to haunt us all in the future.
