Let’s face it, despite what some people may tell you, for the majority of us, burning fat and losing weight is most certainly no easy task and is certainly not something that can be done overnight.

It can take us weeks upon weeks, if not months upon months to lose as little as a couple of pounds in some cases, yet one or two high-calorie meals and all of that hard work is undone within a matter of a few hours.

In order to lose weight there are two fundamental things that we should ideally do.

The first is to get plenty of physical activity and exercise in on a regular basis, and the second is to consume a healthy, nutritious, and balanced diet, and that’s where many of us struggle.

In order to burn fat you’re going to have to forget about chips. Forget about pizzas, cakes, biscuits and other processed junk foods and instead consume fresh, healthy, and nutritious foods and drinks.

Some foods, however, are great because not only can they help you to lose weight due to the fact that they’re naturally low in calories, but they can also help you to actually use your own body to burn fat.

Here are four great examples of fantastic fat burning foods.

Broccoli Rabe

Broccoli Rabe is ideal because not only is it naturally low in fat and calories, but it is also considered a super food as it is jam-packed full of healthy and beneficial nutrients including vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

As well as being low in fat and rich in nutrients, it is also ideal for people looking to burn fat because it can actually communicate with fat cells within our bodies.

The food contains a special phytonutrient known as Sulphoraphane, which has been proven to stimulate enzymes within the body that are responsible for telling your fat cells to actually burn and metabolise fat.

Salmon

Salmon is fantastic because not only is it low in saturated fat, but it is also a fantastic source of protein.

As if that wasn’t enough, as it is an oily fish, it contains omega 3 fatty acids that are actually known as “good fats” which benefit the body in a whole variety of different ways including the fact that they can boost the metabolism, meaning that we burn more calories and enjoy increased energy levels as a result.

On top of that, protein is thermogenic, which means that the body has to burn more calories just to break it down and digest it in order to extract the nutrients from it.

Brazil nuts

Brazil nuts are also rich in healthy fats and protein, but the thing that makes them so beneficial when it comes to the metabolism of fat is that they can help to boost the body’s metabolism by converting a thyroid hormone back into its active form, making it more efficient at burning and metabolising fat.

Oysters

Oysters are another type of seafood that have been proven to actively aid in fat loss.

They’re rich in protein, which we now know is thermogenic, and on top of that, they’re also low in calories and are packed full of beneficial minerals, including Zinc.

Zinc has been linked to decreases in appetite and increases in metabolism, which means the more you consume, not only will you feel less hungry, and therefore consume less calories as a result, but you’ll also be burning more calories than normal.
