WARRINGTON Wolves will feature in a testimonial game for one of their former academy graduates in January.
It has been confirmed this evening that The Wire will travel to The Shay to face Halifax Panthers in a match in honour of James Saltonstall.
The game will take place on Sunday, January 12, kick off 3pm, and will now be Warrington’s first on-field test of the new year.
Their team to face the Championship outfit is expected to be a youthful one, with reserves and academy players set for a run-out.
A game against neighbours Widnes Vikings at The Halliwell Jones Stadium had already been confirmed for Friday, January 17, and Toby King’s Testimonial match is also set to be confirmed in advance of the new season.
Halifax-born Saltonstall came through the Warrington academy and while he failed to make a senior appearance for the club, he did represent Italy internationally while still with The Wire having qualified via his Italian mother.
After loan spells with Bradford Bulls and York City Knights, the outside-back left permanently to join his hometown club and he has spent his entire career there since, turning out 156 times to date.
