DESPITE being handed a ban, Leeds Rhinos forward James Donaldson will be free to face Warrington Wolves in their opening game of the Super League season.

Following a late hate during the Rhinos' pre-season friendly against Wakefield Trinity on Boxing Day, the second rower was hit with a two-match penalty notice and a Grade C charge of dangerous contact by the RFL's Match Review Panel.

However, Donaldson will be able to serve his ban in upcoming friendlies against Featherstone Rovers and Bradford Bulls later this month.

This leaves him clear to face The Wire at Headingley on Saturday, February 12.

Having already played their neighbours over Christmas, Richard Agar's side are slated to play four more pre-season games before the new season begins.
