WARRINGTON Wolves' first home game of the new season has just got even more special for Daryl Powell.

Super League have confirmed that The Wire's Round Two fixture – Powell's first at The Halliwell Jones Stadium as the club's head coach – will see them face his former club Castleford Tigers.

The game takes place on Thursday, February 17, kick off 8pm, and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Powell spent eight years as Tigers head coach, joining in 2013 before leaving at the end of last season to take over at Wolves.

His first competitive game in charge had already been confirmed this morning – a Round One trip to Leeds Rhinos on Saturday, February 12.

The full fixture list for the 2022 campaign is set to be revealed tomorrow morning at 8am.

The season kicks off on Thursday, February 10, with a repeat of this year's Grand Final, with St Helens hosting Catalans Dragons.
