JACK Darbyshire was among the try-scorers as Lancashire completed an Academy Origin series clean sweep yesterday.

The centre was one of three Warrington Wolves youngsters who were in the Red Roses 17 that beat Yorkshire 34-14 in Wakefield, with Jake Thewlis starting on the wing while Ben Hartill came off the bench.

It means Lancashire complete a 3-0 series victory having won earlier games in Widnes and Salford, with Warrington players well represented throughout the series.

Wire second rower Adam Holroyd captained the Yorkshire side, for whom clubmate Lucas Green also came off the bench.

All five players will be back in action for their club at the weekend as the academy side returns to action.

Depending on how other results around them go, Richard Marshall’s side could finish the weekend top of the Academy table if they can secure an eight consecutive win.

They currently sit second – two points behind leaders Hull FC and above St Helens and Leeds Rhinos on points difference – ahead of their clash with Bradford Bulls at Victoria Park on Saturday.

Kick off is at 12noon and entry is free to 2022 season ticket holders. Admission for non-members costs £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.
