RICHARD Marshall says he can see the character within his Warrington Wolves academy side despite another defeat on Saturday.

The young Wire side went down 38-12 at Hull FC, with Noah High and Oliver Simpson scoring their tries.

It now means back-to-back defeats for Marshall’s side, who face London Broncos at Victoria Park in their next fixture on Saturday, kick off 1pm.

“Off the back of a good weeks training we felt confident and ready to play,” Marshall said.

“Our preparation was intense and we changed the team around from the previous game.

“After a strong opening 15-minute spell in which we scored first, it looked promising but Hull FC got back into the game and then we had a player sin binned right before half time and conceded a soft try under the posts.

“Going in at half time behind was tough to take after such a strong start.

“We failed to control the ball in the second half and we spoke in the week about completing well. Hull executed better and played too quick.

“I felt we finished strong and without a late interception towards the end had shown some real fight however, we have played two stronger teams and lost both.

“We will review, analyse and fix up the areas we identify.

“There are lots of improvement in this group and we are seeing some character within the squad even though the win-loss ratio is against us at present."

“The next two games are really important and we will work even harder to perform at our best in both.”
