WARRINGTON Wolves Reserves got their first victory of the year in emphatic fashion on Saturday.

Supplemented by some players who did not make the first team 17 against Catalans Dragons the night before, Danny Evans’ side thrashed Castleford Tigers 68-6 at Victoria Park, scoring 12 tries in the process.

James Hartill scored a hat-trick for The Wire, with Ellis Longstaff scoring a try in each half.

The Wire were 38-0 up after a rampant first half saw them score eight tries.

Longstaff, Hartill Jake Thewlis, Adam Holroyd, Jacob Gannon, Jack Darbyshire, Leon Hayes and Luke Broadbent all crossed before the interval for the hosts.

Two more tries from Hartill and further scores from Longstaff and Josh Thewlis followed after the break.

Riley Dean kicked nine goals for Wolves, with Josh Thewlis adding another.

“I thought our attitude in attack and defence was outstanding throughout the game," Evans said.

"We scored some really skilful tries out there which was great to see, but what I was most pleased about was our willingness in defence to work hard for each other.

"We needed to respond in some areas from our performance last week and I thought we went about this in the right way.”
