DESPITE not having played for more than a month, Warrington RUFC showed no signs of ring rust in their first outing of 2022.

Their best all-round performance of the season saw them dismantle hosts Leigh, running up a 39-14 victory.

Unbeaten league leaders Anselmians visit Grappenhall Sports Club for their next test on Saturday, but Stuart Beeley's men go into the game in confident mood.

Josh Downes opened the scoring with a try converted by JP Hudson before good work at the scrum led to two more touch-downs for the backs, with Jack Stride and Ryan Eastwood benefitting to score.

Trailing 17-0 at the break, Leigh did manage to get on the scoreboard just after half time before Warrington resumed their dominance, with more forward pressure leading to Christian White scoring their fourth try – converted by Hudson – to secure a bonus point.

Luke Turner then crossed for try number five before Matt Beeley touched down twice in the closing stages, rendering the try Leigh scored on the stroke of full time a consolation.
