PAUL Anderson admits the way his Warrington Wolves under 19s side performed in defeat to neighbours Wigan Warriors left him "extremely disappointed."

By the time the Wire youngsters crossed three times in the final quarter, defeat was already certain after the hosts had taken a 26-0 lead into the break.

Dan Brewin, Morgan Burgess and Tom Whitehead scored for Anderson's men, but the academy head coach thought his side did not "emotionally invest" into the game both before and during the contest.

“I was extremely disappointed with large elements of the performance," he said.

"I felt we didn’t emotionally invest a great deal not only into the game but also our preparation.

"We did improve slightly in the second half but the damage was already done.

"Credit to Wigan who I felt defended really well especially in the second half when we asked more questions with the ball.”
