Warrington u14 15 Liverpool Collegiate u14 14
A HUGE defensive effort allowed Warrington’s under 14s to finish their season by claiming the Lancashire Cup.
The bigger Liverpool side opened the scoring by crashing over off the back of several penalties, but Warrington were soon able to get their fast-flowing brand of rugby going.
Jude Lightfoot, Rorio Zheng and Charlie Bancroft all crossed in quick succession, before a penalty try for Liverpool brought the half-time score to 15-14.
Warrington were pinned down to their own line for lengthy periods after the break, but some superb defence allowed them to hold on for victory.
“I'm really proud of my mates today,” captain Riley Surplice said.
“We're known as a fast, skilful team but all Warrington teams are built on defence.
“We had to really roll our sleeves up and step-up for each other.”
