Stockport 2nd 14 Lymm 2nd 71

LYMM’S seconds clinched the Cotton Traders Championship title in stunning fashion with an 11-try mauling of Stockport.

With nearest rivals Vale of Lune having two points deducted for not fielding a front row in their last fixture, Lymm knew a win would earn them the right to call themselves champions.

They responded with some superb rugby, with centre Josh Davies running in a hat-trick of tries and Tom Shard kicking eight conversions.

Tom Baker, James Pitcher, Jorge Reynolds and Toby Phillips crossed along with Davies to give Lymm a 31-14 lead at the break.

However, it was the second half in which they truly impressed as Davies completed his treble as part of 40 unanswered points.

Jake Davies, Will Baldwin, Ben Rees and Peter Millachip were the visitors’ other try-scorers.

They welcome Rossendale’s seconds to Crouchley Lane in their final game of the campaign on Saturday.

Lymm: Brown, Pitcher, O’Callaghan, H Baldwin, Lythgoe, Stewart, W Baldwin, Rees; Shard, Robinson; Hamer, Baker, Josh Davies, Reynolds, Jake Davies. Subs: Young, Millachip, Phillips.
