LYMM moved up to third in the North Premier Division with Saturday’s narrow win over Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria.

The visitors took the lead on 10 minutes with a superb try as a Kirkby kick was gathered by the back line and the ball swept out to second row Sam Mullarky, who found flanker Jake Ashall to drive through and over.

However, Kirkby hit back as their outside centre went over wide on the right for 5-5.

But from the kick-off Lymm pushed into the Kirkby half where the home side found themselves offside in a central position to allow reliable full back Cormac Nolan to bisect the posts for 5-8.

Neither side was able to assert dominance in the rest of a hard-fought first half.

The second half started much as the first had ended, although strong passages of defensive play from both sides prevented further tries.

On 70 minutes Kirby were adjudged to have not rolled away, Scott Redfern kicking the resultant penalty goal.
