GOALKEEPER Dan Atherton has confirmed he is leaving Warrington Town.
The shot-stopper, who played a pivotal role in Yellows’ run to the Northern Premier League Premier Division play-off final, confirmed the news on social media this afternoon.
The time has come to say goodbye to @theyellows, I’ve had a fantastic time working with some amazing people. I’m sure you will go all the way this year! Just want to thank the players, staff and the chairman and his family💪🏼 most of all the fans! You’ve been amazing! #COYW pic.twitter.com/KsvbDffxno

Yellows had made Atherton, who saved two penalties in the shoot-out win over South Shields in the play-off semi-final, an offer to stay at Cantilever Park but it is understood he has accepted an offer to join Welsh champions TNS.
Overall, Atherton made 49 appearances for Town last season, keeping 18 clean sheets in the process.
Town are believed to have already agreed terms with a new goalkeeper to replace Atherton, with his signing – plus more – to be announced in the lead-up to the home friendly against Tranmere Rovers on July 9.
