DEFENDER Matt Regan has become the first confirmed departure from Warrington Town this summer.
The centre-half was offered improved terms to remain at Cantilever Park with the club keen to retain him, but he has elected to join Northern Premier League Premier Division rivals Ashton United.
Yellows are believed to be furious about how the situation has played out having been under the impression that Regan was about to commit his future to Mark Beesleyβs side.
Regan made 41 appearances for Town last season, featuring both at left-back and in the heart of the defence to help them to the brink of promotion, only to lose the play-off final to Scarborough Athletic.
He returns to Hurst Cross for a second spell with the Robins, having featured for them during the 2018-19 campaign.
