TESTS against three Football League teams and the return of former manager Paul Carden to Cantilever Park headline Warrington Town’s pre-season schedule.

The club have confirmed they will play nine friendly matches before the 2022-23 Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign gets underway on Saturday, August 13.

League Two side Tranmere Rovers (July 9) and League One outfit Bolton Wanderers (August 2) will both visit Cantilever Park while Yellows will also host the under 23s team of Championship side Blackpool (July 20).

Ex-Town boss Carden will also bring his AFC Telford United side to his former home ground on Saturday, July 23, in the other home friendly.

The Yellows squad, most of whom are believed to have agreed to remain with the club following last season’s heartbreaking play-off final loss to Scarborough Athletic, will start pre-season training on June 28 before their first friendly at Prescot Cables on July 5.

The schedule also includes a trip to Buxton, who won the NPL Premier Division title last season, and away games at Wythenshawe Town, 1874 Northwich and Bootle.
