IT was a good evening for the Files family at Woolston Rovers’ annual awards evening.
Brothers Adam and Harry won all three of the individual awards for the club’s National Conference League side between them.
Adam won the Player of the Year and Player’s Player prizes while Harry picked up the Coaches award. Adam also won the club’s top tryscorer award after crossing 18 times during the 2021 season.
There was a large turnout from both open age teams as well as the under 18s at Monk Sports Club to bring the curtain down on another campaign.
“It has been another fantastic evening with great company,” club chairman Steve Moore.
“The turnout was really impressive and everybody enjoyed the occasion.
“There were some very worthy winners and I would like to thank everybody who has contributed to all three teams during the year and we now cannot wait for the start of next season.”
Scrum-half Olly Hands picked up the Player and Player’s Player awards for the North West Men’s League team, for whom the coaches award went to winger Tom Atherton.
The under 18s Player of the Year and Players’ Player trophies were collected by hooker and team captain Declan Houghton whilst the Coaches Award went to second row Matt Jenkins.
Clubman of the Year went to Nathan Evans, who took on an administrative role with the NWML side after suffering a season-ending broken collarbone in May.
Senior vice-president Warren Whalley picked up two prizes – the Chairman’s award and the President’s award – for his unstinting work that he does for the benefit of the whole club, and he received an emotional standing ovation from the appreciative audience.
Whalley himself had an award to give out – the Vice President’s award – and he presented it to long-serving NWML first aider Doug Berry for his excellent service spanning over three decades.
