AUDREY Brown and Norman Deakin emerged victorious at this year's Festival mixed pairs bowling competition.
The conclusion of some excellent play in defiance of the wet weather at Padgate Tennis and Bowling Club saw the winning pair see off Mandy Hunt and Ray Bate 21-15 to take home the trophy.
Brown and Deakin had edged out J and M Dickenson 21-18 to reach the final having staged an admirable fightback from 13-5 down.
By contrast, the beaten finalists' progress was more serene with their closest game being a 21-16 win over L Wells and C Smith.
