WARRINGTON Town striker Tony Gray predicts his side's FA Cup clash with City of Liverpool will be "pretty spicy."

The Purps – managed by Yellows legend Craig Robinson – visit Cantilever Park in the first qualifying round for what is the first competitive meeting between the sides.

Town came from behind to win 2-1 in a pre-season friendly between the two sides prior to this season and Gray is hoping for a more convincing display this time around.

However, he admits they could not have wished for a much tougher draw.

"There’s a bit of local rivalry there," he said.

"A few of the lads on both sides know each other, the managers know each other and obviously Robbo used to play here.

"It will be pretty spicy. We played them in pre-season and they were bang up for that one.

"We just scraped the win then but hopefully we can be more convincing on Saturday.

"We could have got a better draw as it’s a very tough ask.

"We’d would have rather played them further into the competition but these are the teams you have to beat at some point."
