WARRINGTON Town secured their first clean sheet of the season on Saturday as they played out a goalless draw at Gainsborough Trinity.

In sweltering conditions in Lincolnshire, Town had to settle for a point as both sides would feel they could have snatched all three.

Yellows had the ball in the net in the first half as Tony Gray converted Mitch Duggan's low cross, but the striker was ruled offside.

In the second half, Gray and Ben Garrity were denied by fine last-ditch blocks by the Trinity defence while substitute Josh Amis had a header tipped over the bar.

Gainsborough may feel they should have been playing against 10 men for the majority of the game after two challenges by Mark Roberts on Ashley Worsfold.

The first – inside the area – was deemed fair while the second was pulled up right on the edge of the box, with Roberts shown a yellow card.

Town are back in action today as they welcome Bamber Bridge to Cantilever Park, kick off 3pm.
