WARRINGTON’S relegation from Cheshire County League Division One has been confirmed after Saturday’s defeat to champions Oulton Park.

The five-wicket loss at Walton Lea means Richard Heaney’s men will play in Division Two next year as their opponents secured the title.

Batting first after winning the toss, the hosts made a decent start with the bat as Ashley Scholes (46) and Mally Agar (42) made promising scored.

Brad McIntosh added 33 batting at number five, but Warrington lost their last five wickets for 50 runs to be dismissed for 165.

The hosts made a decent fist of defending their total, led by Aaron Soni (2-25) and McIntosh (2-28), but Oulton Park coasted home with five overs to spare.

Elsewhere, a century from James Sharrock (109) helped Warrington’s seconds to a score of 234 all out against their Oulton Park counterparts, with Harley Barrett also adding 65.

Barrett then took 2-41 with the ball, but the hosts chased down their target on a small ground to win by six wickets.

The thirds hung on for a draw with Appleton’s seconds after Mike Fagan-Hall’s 4-49 helped them restrict the hosts to 191-4.

Paul Higham top-scored with 36, but Warrington could not keep up with the run rate as they secured a draw.

Jon Burgess and Kyle Roden took three wickets each for the fourths as they kept Styal’s seconds down to 167-8 from their allotted overs.

Despite an opening stand of 103, Warrington lost wickets regularly and closed on 139-8 to bat out a draw.

The firsts visit Weaverham on Saturday, while the seconds host neighbours Grappenhall, the thirds welcome Kingsley and the fourths travel to Cheadle Hulme Ladybridge.
