IT was a case of win, lose and draw for Appleton Cricket Club at the weekend.

The first team extended their lead at the top of Cheshire Building Society Alliance Division Two to 32 points after defeating Langley by 95 runs.

The lower order shined with Ed Sygrove and Jim Warham putting on 50 in the last five overs to leave the Lyons Lane side on 192 for 7.

Langley were in trouble from the start with some cunning left-arm spin from Oliver, who claimed three Langley victims.

Woods also snaffled three wickets as Langley mustered 97 before being bowled out.

James Darbyshire claimed his first five-wicket haul but Appleton's second team had to settle for a draw against Langley, who registered 192.

Some solid batting put Appleton within five runs of victory but the team ran out of overs with 188 on the board.

The third team lost for the second week running against Port Sunlight.

A great comeback innings of 47 from Al Rogers and a gritty 45 from Kev Lomas saw the third team set the visitors 183, which was passed with three wickets to spare.
