WARRINGTON Wizards will be hoping to continue their fine form when they entertain champions Bradford Demons in amateur rugby league's LHF Healthplan National League Three at Wilderspool Stadium on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Wizards are on a roll with five straight wins and a victory over their arch-rivals could see them move into second place if other results go their way.

Sunday's memorable 45-24 win at second-placed Hemel Hempstead Stags will have given the side the belief that they are capable of beating anyone and head coach Eddie Harris was delighted with the manner of his side's victory.

He said: "We knew what to expect from Hemel and we trained accordingly. The players went out and stuck to what I asked them too and it reaped fantastic dividends.

"We now have to back this up against a formidable Bradford side and make sure that we continue to put in the same effort and commitment.

"The squad is getting bigger and better all the time so there is real competition for places but that is what you need if you are to be successful.

"The lads know that they have to perform to their optimum each week if they want to hold on to their place."

Prop forwards Neil Smith and Simon McEvoy, along with second rower Andy Addison, should be available to further bolster the Wizards squad, although prop Lee Hunter will be missing with an ankle injury.

Wizards' performance at Hemel was arguably their finest in their two-year history even after being reduced to 12 men three minutes before half time.

Scrum half Craig Harris was dismissed for dissent when Wizards were 12-10 ahead thanks to an opening penalty goal from Chris Mellor, an unconverted try by Mark Roughneen and an Alan Kilshaw try that was converted by Mellor.

Four minutes either side of half time man of the match Chris Campbell and Ian Stephenson touched down for Wizards, whose lead was further extended to 31-10 with a Kilshaw drop goal and converted Dave Kelly try.

Hemel threatened a comeback just after the hour mark with two quick tries but Wizards moved up an extra gear and tries by Mellor and Cole put the issue beyond doubt.

Wizards: Chris Campbell; Ian Stephenson, Chris Malone, Mark Roughneen, Stuart Pirrie; Alan Kilshaw, Craig Harris; Luke Worsley, Steven Smythe, Anthony Beckett, Danny Shaw, Matt Wilson, Chris Mellor. Subs: Jon Cole, Wes Lawton, Scott Davidson, Dave Kelly.
