WARRINGTON Rowing Club's Olivia Oakes was part of a winning team on her debut for the Great Britain junior squad in Holland at the weekend.

The Lymm High School pupil, who lives in Grappenhall, competed for Britain as they won the girls' event and the overall competition against 11 other nations at the Coupe de la Jeunesse in Groningen.

Warrington rowers were victorious in eight events at Saturday's Warrington Regatta.

A total of 152 Warrington crews competed against 17 other clubs at the Kingsway Bridge event, with Jo Coxon, Sian Henrys, Liz Newton, Pippa Valentine and cox Wendy Porter winning the women's senior two coxed four race.

Alison Brighton, Laura Estall, Emily Hopper, Revelle Littlewood and cox Ali Edge were triumphant in the women's novice coxed four, while Richard Round, Dominic Prosser, Gareth Williams, Mike Bennett and cox Vicky Johnson won the senior three coxed four race.

Jon Budd, Gary Hughes, John Goode, Carl Nutbrown and cox Liz Newton were the winners of the veteran novice coxed four, while Jenny Argent and Hannah Unsworth were victorious in the girls' junior double sculls.

The duo also won the girls' junior coxed four alongside cox Josh Goswell, Hannah Mason and Katy McQuillian, who won the girls' junior 16 double sculls with Emma Dunbavand. Chris Johnstone and Tom Pearson won the junior 15 double sculls race.
