WARRIORS of Warrington's Tim Almond has been crowned the top 13-year-old swimmer in the country after grabbing two gold medals at the Amateur Swimming Association National Age Group Championships.
The Padgate Community High School pupil defended his 13-year-old 200m breaststroke title at Ponds Forge in Sheffield and also added 100m breaststroke gold and 400m individual medley bronze to his collection.
His results across the nine events he qualified for earned enough ranking points for him to be named the top 13-year-old boy in the championships.
Matthew Verdon finished 10th in the overall rankings after gaining a bronze medal in the 13-year-old 100m backstroke.
Martin Holmes reached the final of the 12-year-old 100m butterfly and finished 10th.
Stockton Heath's Katy Whitfield, of Stockport Metro, has joined Warriors' Vicky Boswell, Aisha Thornton, Jonathan Gatley and Andy Bushall at the National Youth Championships, which run until Sunday.
