SPARTAK’S unbeaten record came crashing down in the Warrington and District League this week.

They were defeated 4-1 at Winwick in a Division Two match that featured two own goals.

First-half strikes from Josh Whitfield and Grant Hughes, a penalty from Marc Debrander and own goals from Colin Jeffries and Mike Hall handed Winwick a 5-0 win.

In contrast, Lomax continue with their unbeaten run in Division Two thanks to a 7-1 success against Moore United, who had some good spells of possession but struggled to contain the lively Lomax forwards.

Goal scorers for Lomax were Craig Hoyland, Scott Baron, two, Kieran Driscoll, two, and Chris Holbrook.

In Division One, Orford won 4-1 at Ford Reserves with goals from Mike Astbury, Jack Hynes, Tony Johnson and Liam McLoughlin.

Orford Reserves went one better, defeating Widnes Dragons 5-2 in Division Three with goals from Gary Page, two, Harry Garnett, Brad Wilkinson and Michael Jones.

The third team rounded off the success by beating Smiths SDFC Reserves 2-1 with goals from Kevin Barker and manager Darren Walsh, with goalkeeper Rob Hughes the hero with a penalty save.

Opal went goal crazy at St Michaels DH in Division Four.

Jordan Smith banged in a great hat-trick, with Steve Frith adding two and captain Alex Lewis grabbing one in the 8-0 victory.

Chris Goodwin and Ainsley Taylor also netted, while Scott Birchall was named man of the match.
