Douglas...5 Warrington...38

WARRINGTON stretched their winning streak to eight and picked up a vaulable bonus point in their excellent away victory on the Isle of Man.

Hard running and quick handling from the Warrington backs created five tries for the visitors, all converted by the reliable boot of Matt Rockey, and the hosts offered little in resistance.

“A win and a bonus point from an away fixture is always good,” said coach Dave Rockey.

“Everybody made a contribution but I would single out Sean Yoxhall and Matt Hennessy for particular praise.”

The visitors broke the deadlock on seven minutes when a drive from the forwards put Coombes in the position to touch down, with Rockey soon adding a penalty to his first conversion of the day.

Jones stretched the lead with a well-worked try and Warrington went into the break 17 points ahead.

Douglas struck back in the opening moments of the second half, but soon Craig Burke went over to finish a slick passing move and resume Warrington’s dominance.

Paul Hennessy added another try before Warrington’s final score came when Andy Almond popped up outside Rickard after the ball had passed through six pairs of hands and the full back went over to complete the Warrington rout in South Lancashire and Cheshire Division Two.

Warrington 2nd 45 Anselmians 2nd 17

THE league leaders came unstuck against Warrington’s second string at Walton Lea Road on Saturday.

Coach Stuart Coleman said: “If we keep on putting in performances like this then we need fear nobody in this league and we have a cup match at Fleetwood next week.”

Scoring almost directly from kick off, Warrington ran in tries from McDermott, Danny Fleming, two, Frazer, Kerai, Hughes and Craig Davis to maintain the upper hand over an Anselmians side that never gave up and ran in three tries of their own.

Warrington 3rd 43 Merseyside Police 14

WARRINGTON’S third team enjoyed a resounding victory over a lacklustre Merseyside Police side at the weekend.

Tries from Tom Wray, Gloucester, McAvoy, two, Carter, Hamblett and McIlroy ensured that the Police’s two scores were nothing more than a consolation.
