Stockport...34 Lymm...19

LYMM travelled to National League Division Three North leaders Stockport looking to test their recent boost in form.

But they were handed a wake-up call by a team that look a sure thing for promotion at the end of the season.

Coach Chris Kinsey wanted to highlight the positives and said: “Only scoring once in the first half with 80 per cent possession was our downfall.

“But we played at a pace that the league leaders couldn’t handle for 40 minutes before then letting them dominate.

“We must learn lessons from this.”

They will have time to work on this in training as they have no game this Saturday but entertain Sandal on November 13.

For the first 42 minutes of the game, Lymm dominated.

They took the lead after 17 minutes through Andy Rowley after work from Andy Roberts and Joe Knowles, but despite further possession, Lymm failed to capitalise on being ahead.

They bombed several chances before Stockport equalised on the stroke of half time, a cruel blow after an excellent 40 minutes from the visitors.

An early penalty to Stockport put them ahead but Lymm countered with a try to go back into the lead.

A try and penalty from the league leaders put the visitors on the back foot and despite another score from Dave Williamson they ran away with the game, scoring a further two tries.
