FORMER Lymm Rugby Union scrum-half Alex Mitchell has learned whether or not he will represent England against Scotland at Twickenham in the Guinness Six Nations opener on Saturday.

The Northampton number nine, who was part of the recent England training camp, is not included in Steve Borthwick's first selection since taking over as head coach from Eddie Jones.

Marcus Smith is at fly-half with Jack van Poortvliet at scrum half and no room on the bench either for Mitchell, who has one cap to his name so far.
