THE schedule for Sam Burgess' first season in charge of Warrington Wolves looks set to become clear this week.
It is understood the 2024 Super League fixtures are likely to be revealed towards the back end of the week, meaning supporters up and down the competition will be able to plan their campaigns.
It means we will soon know the opposition for Burgess' first game as a top-grade head coach, against whom The Wire will be hoping for a Round One victory for the third year in a row.
Under Daryl Powell, Warrington thrashed Leeds Rhinos - their most frequent opening-day opponents - 42-10 at The Halliwell Jones Stadium to kick off 2023 in what was the seventh Round One meeting between the two clubs.

Wire’s record in Super League openers is distinctly mixed, with a slight weighting towards victories.
Last year's dominant showing was their 15th victory in 28 opening-day matches during the summer era.
They have lost 12 Round One fixtures with one draw – the 20-20 sharing-of-the-spoils at Hull FC back in 2012.
Their biggest opening-day win was the 58-0 thrashing of Harlequins in 2010, with their heaviest Round One loss being a 58-20 hammering at Bradford Bulls in 1997.

Last year was also the 12th time Warrington have started a Super League season with a home fixture and the first since Steve Price’s side beat Leeds 26-6 in Round One of 2019.
They have started 14 of the 27 Super League years with away fixtures with two being held on neutral ground – the 2011 defeat to Huddersfield Giants at Millennium Magic and 2021’s loss to Castleford Tigers behind closed doors at Headingley during the Covid pandemic.

Of the current Super League line-up, Hull KR and Leigh Leopards are the only side Warrington are yet to face in an opening-day fixture.
Wire have faced both Wigan Warriors and Harlequins/London three times in Super League openers while Salford Red Devils, St Helens, Castleford Tigers, Hull FC, Huddersfield Giants and Halifax have all provided their opposition twice.
They have also opened up seasons against Catalans Dragons (2017), Wakefield Trinity (2004) and Bradford Bulls (1997).
