WARRINGTON Town and Warrington Rylands both picked up their first wins of pre-season yesterday.

Both were victorious away at opponents from the North West Counties League as their preparations for the new Northern Premier League Premier Division campaign continue.

Yellows were 3-1 victors at Wythenshawe Town, with new signing Oliver Putnam on target twice.

The midfielder capitalised on an error from the home goalkeeper to tap home before doubling his tally by rounding the keeper and finishing off after latching onto a through ball from fellow new addition Michael Howard.

Luke Duffy had opened the scoring from outside the box, with Darius Palma pulling one back for the hosts late on.

Meanwhile, Rylands also had a new signing to thank for securing their own victory at Cammell Laird.

Just minutes after coming off the bench, Ryan Brooke converted a penalty and that was enough to seal a 1-0 victory for Dave McNabb’s Blues.

Rylands host National League North side Chorley at Gorsey Lane on Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm, and are offering free admission to fans wanting to watch the game.

On Wednesday evening, Yellows face Championship side Blackpool’s under 23s side at Cantilever Park, kick off 7pm.
