DARYL Powell has remained tight-lipped about rumoured player moves into and out of Warrington Wolves.

With out-of-contract players now free to speak to rival clubs about moves for 2023 and beyond, the recruitment market is heating up.

Chief executive Karl Fitzpatrick is currently in Australia aiming to tie up deals but back home, the rumour mill is starting to go into overdrive.

As such, reports have heavily linked Wire prop Mike Cooper with a move to Huddersfield Giants and this was referenced during Sky Sports’ coverage of Ian Watson’s side’s win over Wigan Warriors last night.

With The Wire known to be on the hunt for front-row reinforcements, they have also been linked with moves for two players likely to be in the opposition ranks when they face Catalans Dragons tomorrow.

They are believed to be interested in signing Dragons props Sam Kasiano and Gil Dudson for next year, with both coming to the end of their deals with the French club.

However, Powell was in no mood to discuss the future when asked while he also said discussions with out-of-contract members of his squad are “ongoing.”

“I’ve got no comment on players for next season,” he said when asked about the links with New Zealander Kasiano and Welshman Dudson, both 31.

“I’m just focused on what we’ve got in front of us at the moment which is playing against Catalans.”

On 33-year-old Cooper’s link to Huddersfield, he said: “I don’t know anything about it to be honest so I can’t really comment.

“I’ll leave that to the rumour-mongers because there’s nothing I can really say about that sort of stuff at the moment.

“We’re working through that at the moment but there’s nothing to really say about it. It’s an ongoing process.”
