He will start in the halves, with Josh Thewlis continuing at full-back following an impressive run in the side.

“We’ll have Stef coming back into the team this week which should help us with our control. He’s a great voice and is an experienced player,” Powell said.

“That should really help us start to make steps forward.

“He will play at half tomorrow.

“Just looking at the squad and team at the moment, I think Josh Thewlis has done really well at full-back and I want to give him another opportunity.”

Powell also provided an update on half-back Gareth Widdop, who has been sidelined with a glute problem.

He said: “Gaz isn’t far off – he should be available for the St Helens game.”
