WHILE the Warrington Wolves first team are in France to take on Catalans Dragons tomorrow, there are a couple of the club’s teams in action closer to home.

The reserve team play their latest fixture while this weekend also marks the start of the new Betfred Women’s Super League season, with The Wire in Group Two of the top flight.

Tonight, Danny Evans’ reserve team are in action as they take on Wakefield Trinity at Victoria Park.

The game was originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon but with both first teams due in France this weekend – Wakefield visit Toulouse on Sunday – it was agreed that the game should be brought forward.

The team have won three of their four games this season – having lost to Huddersfield in their season opener, The Wire have since beaten Castleford Tigers, Bradford Bulls and Hull FC.

Kick off is at 7.30pm and entry is free for 2022 members if they show their membership card. For non-members, entry costs £5 for adults and £2 for concessions.

On Sunday, the women’s team are on the road for their Super League opener against Barrow Raiders.

The sides have already met twice this season and The Wire have triumphed on both occasions – they won 36-16 in the Challenge Cup group stage and 14-4 in the recent Women’s Nines tournament at Victoria Park.
