THERE will be at least two changes to the Warrington Wolves starting team that faces Wakefield Trinity in the Challenge Cup tomorrow, with the potential for more alterations.

Daryl Powell has made four changes to his 21-man squad, which was named yesterday.

Here's sports reporter Matt Turner's prediction of how The Wire will line up at The Halliwell Jones Stadium...

A GAME that Warrington Wolves simply have to win, and Daryl Powell has several decisions to make.

Chief among them is who steps in for Stefan Ratchford – out for around a month with a shoulder problem – at full-back.

Powell dropped four names as potentials with Josh Thewlis, Matty Ashton, Peter Mata’utia and Gareth Widdop in the frame.

For me, the most logical solution would be Thewlis taking the number one spot.

He is the most natural full-back of the options and Josh Charnley’s return from suspension to take his regular right wing spot means there would be little disruption elsewhere.

Although Connor Wrench was named in the 21-man squad, he is thought to be unlikely to return until next week having missed the past five games with a stress fracture of his back.

Robbie Mulhern’s return from concussion is timely given an already depleted middle unit is now missing Jack Hughes as well as Joe Bullock. I expect him to come straight back in to start alongside Mike Cooper in the front row.

Powell confirmed yesterday that he expects Billy Magoulias to be in the 17 this week having just missed out on a debut last week.

He is set to come off the bench, meaning a likely start for either Matt Davis or Jason Clark at loose forward.

The other selection headache is over Daryl Clark, who remains a doubt with a neck injury.

If he is fit to play, I suspect he may well come off the bench as has often been the case when coming back from a knock, with Danny Walker starting.

So with all of that in mind, my predicted Wire 17 looks like this:

Thewlis; Charnley, Mata’utia, King, Ashton; Widdop, Williams; Mulhern, Walker, Cooper, Holmes, Currie, Davis. Subs: Philbin, J Clark, Magoulias, D Clark
