HAVING started the season in fine form, Josh Charnley has had to take an enforced break from the game.

As a result of a two-match suspension that sparked much debate throughout the game, the winger has been reduced to watching on as his Warrington Wolves teammates slipped to a brace of losses in his absence.

Having paid his dues, Charnley is free to rejoin the side and says he is ready to “cause some chaos” against Wakefield Trinity in the Challenge Cup on Sunday.

“It’s gutting missing out on those games and watching the boys get beat,” he said.

“I’ve served my time now so hopefully, I can get out there and cause some chaos on Sunday.

“When you’re watching from the sideline, you’re always wondering ‘what if?’ It was certainly painful not being able to do anything for them.

“We’ve got an opportunity now on Sunday to put some smiles on faces.”

Charnley received his ban for kicking Catalans Dragons half-back Josh Drinkwater during The Wire’s defeat to the French outfit earlier this month.

The Match Review Panel were widely criticised for the decision, with Charnley himself questioning it openly on social media.

When asked whether he had received any feedback as to why he was banned, he said: “They said it was because it was striking and that any kind of striking – whether it’s a kick or whatever – would get a ban.

“It was a weird one because I didn’t even realise I’d kicked him.

“Powelly told me I’d got two matches and I was just really confused.

“I was confused for days about it, to be honest, but I’ve done my time now.”
