WARRINGTON RUFC returned from their trip to St Benedicts on Saturday victorious.

Leading 7-3 at the break thanks to skipper Josh Downes’ try, the visitors stretched out after the break to record a 20-3 victory in Cumbria.

Jack Stride’s try and two JP Hudson penalties ensured a third win in their past four away games for Warrington.

Having fallen behind to an early penalty goal, Warrington got into their stride and edged ahead just before half time.

The hosts just about stopped a pushover try from a scrum but from the subsequent drives, Downes touched down between the posts to give Hudson an easy conversion.

More pressure after the interval led to Hudson punishing more home indiscipline with a brace of penalties before the win was rounded off in style.

An excellent break from fly-half Matt Beeley led to him offloading for full-back Stride to score in the corner, with Hudson adding the extras.

Warrington are on the road again on Saturday as they travel to Salford to face De La Salle in the North Two West.
