WARRINGTON Town and Warrington Rylands will both be looking to boost their promotion credentials this weekend as another packed football schedule looms.

Yellows welcome Lancaster City to Cantilever Park in what will be new manager Mark Beesley's first league game in charge.

Having exited the FA Trophy via a penalty shoot-out loss to Morpeth Town last time out, Yellows can now focus solely on their bid for promotion from the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

They sit sixth – one point and one place outside the play-offs with a game in hand on fifth-place Whitby Town – as they aim to keep pace with those above them.

Visiting them are a Lancaster side who have been inconsistent this season but arrive in Cheshire on a run of five wins from their past six games.

They were also the team to end Buxton’s unbeaten record in their last league outing with a 1-0 victory.

The sides have met this season, with Yellows winning 1-0 at the Giant Axe in September thanks to Josh Amis’ second-half winner.

Meanwhile, Warrington Rylands will climb to second in the NPL West Division with a win at Bootle on Saturday.

With second-place Workington not in action, Blues’ superior goal difference means any kind of victory would take them above the Cumbrians.

They would have done so had they beaten Colne on Tuesday night, but the wet weather during the week forced that game to be postponed.

Rylands go into the fixture on the back of an eight-goal thrashing of Ramsbottom United last time out and another win would solidify their position among the all-important top five.

Opponents Bootle have won eight and lost eight of their 16 league games but do have the division’s leading goalscorer – 13-goal frontman Ben Hodkinson – in their ranks.

In the Cheshire Football League, a Warrington 'derby' takes top billing as Greenalls PSO make the trip across town to Thornton Road to take on Eagle Sports in the Premier Division.

Daten are on the road as they visit high-flying Egerton.
