IT was Warrington Golf Club’s turn to host some of the region’s best players last week as the Manchester and District Golf Alliance rolled into town.
With the club’s magnificent greens drawing plenty of compliments, it was local boy Graham Cox who finished as the day’s leading professional.
The Lymm Golf Club pro finished alongside Chorlton’s Alistair Waddell on 42 points, with Chorley’s Jack Wiggans a point further back.
Cox made it a double as he partnered up with Warrington’s Anton Johnson to record the top pro-am score of 46 points.
Poulton Park professional Phil Archer and his playing partner, Dunham Forest’s Dave Morris, were one of three pairs to finish two points behind Cox and Johnson.
Waddell and his Chorlton teammate Steve Whitfield were also among that trio, as were Wigan’s Martin Longshaw and Martin Packingham.
