ANOTHER busy weekend of football is about to begin, with both of our semi-professional sides at home.

Warrington Town and Warrington Rylands both go into November at the right end of the table and will look to continue their promotion pushes.

Yellows welcome Hyde United to Cantilever Park looking to extend their promising recent run.

They are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions and are aiming to solidify their position inside the Northern Premier League Premier Division’s play-off spots.

By contrast, their visitors are hovering just above the relegation spots in 18th place and arrive in Warrington having lost six of their seven league away games.

However, manager Paul Carden is taking nothing for granted as he prepares to pit his wits against vastly experienced Tigers boss Jim Gannon.

"We’ve got to be at it like we do every week," he said.

"We need to respect what they’re good at and work on areas they’re not so good at as well as working on our own strengths.

"They’ve got a very experienced manager and they’re turning more into his type of squad now. He’s let a few players go which raised some eyebrows but he’s getting his type of player in.

"With every week that goes by, they will look more like a Jim Gannon squad so that’s something we will have to be ready for."

Yellows are likely to have midfielders Jay Harris and Luke Duffy available again but have injury doubts over top goalscorer Jordan Buckley, his fellow striker Josh Amis and defensive duo Eddie Clarke and Matt Regan while Matty McDonald is a long-term absentee.

Meanwhile, Rylands are back in action after a two-week break as they welcome Clitheroe to Gorsey Lane.

Blues’ early exit from the FA Trophy meant they were without a fixture last weekend, with manager Dave McNabb getting extra time on the training field with his players.

They will aim to stretch their current unbeaten league run to five matches but they will face a side that is unbeaten away from home in the NPL West Division this season, with four wins and a draw from their five games on the road.

“They’re a very experienced side with a couple of talented young players with loads of potential,” McNabb said.

“We’ve watched them a couple of times, including against Bootle where they absolutely blew them away.

“They play a certain way which causes a lot of problems for opposition teams, so we’re expecting a very tough game.

“We trained twice last week and had a bit of a team building session on Saturday morning.

“Everyone’s in a good place at the minute and we’re in as good a place with injuries as we have been all season, so we’ll continue to work with what we’ve got.”
